First information sheets on pathogens in reared insects now available
Researchers at the University of Copenhagen in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Wageningen have prepared three information sheets about infectious diseases in mass reared insects. Sheets have been prepared for the mealworm (Tenebrio molitor), the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), and crickets (Acheta domesticus). The sheets summarize the available information on infectious diseases in these insect species and visualize the symptoms associated with a particular infection. These sheets are aimed to assist insect production facilities in diagnosing infectious disease problems in their insect populations and will be updated when more knowledge becomes available in the INSECT DOCTORS project.
